The Country Bookshop in Southern Pines, North Carolina began sales promotion for Lila Hopkins. Since her two children's
books, Eating Crow and Talking Turkey were written in Moore Country, launching her writing career, Lila
"went home" for her first gala book signing. Joan Scott at Country Bookstore honored her with a royal reception, attended
by many of her colleagues from Aberdeen Middle School and other friends.
Grand Canyon University honored Lila Hopkins with a reception in Phoenix, Arizona on November 15, 2002. Ms Hopkins donated
21 copies of her book, Weave Me a Song and some of her art work for the Harold E. Dye scholarship fund. The scholarship
is given each year in memory of Lila's father, Dr. Harold Dye. At the reception and reading, Lila and her husband Richard
Hopkins were able to contribute more than $500.
